Research Associate


Ethan Scherer is a research associate on Proving Ground. He co-leads the data collection, design and execution of the project’s analytics. He also, leads the Boston Charter Research Collaborative project that focuses on responsibly expanding schools’ use of measures of and supports for cognitive and socio-emotional learning skills.

Prior to joining CEPR, Ethan completed a Ph.D. in policy analysis at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. Ethan’s doctoral research focused on whether bonuses for teachers and principals improved student achievement as well as whether voters held school board members accountable for their performance. At RAND, Ethan worked on projects related to district reform, teacher effectiveness, and out-of-school time.

Ethan holds an M.P.P in public policy from UCLA and B.A. in economics from Wesleyan University.
