Heights, Southwest school leaders react to State Report Card grades

On Sept. 12, the state department of education released its annual grade cards seeking to measure the performance of school districts across Ohio.

While school superintendents say they find varying degrees of value in the exercise, they also stress the report cards don't capture the totality of the educational experience required to shape a student for their future social and educational needs.

As one superintendent also put it, the report cards are a snapshot of a moment in time. As yet another superintendent also noted, that "snapshot," owing to report card time frames, in many ways arrives too late to have any meaningful impact on the students actually being "measured."
